Not sure why people would do that, unless they feel they have something to hide.
And if they are looking for a bit of anonymity, it's usually possible to leave identities out of it by using code names. For me, it's cos I've rubbed shoulders with a few too many Warcraft-Crazies and I don't want friends to get hurt as a consequence.

I hate when that happens. I'm just warning you now, if you do that, I am going to have Max poop on more than just your pillow.
Tara (not the cat)

Dear Thumper,
You are cordially invited to visit AckThbbbt.blogspot.com!
Love,
Roses
(While my blog isn't "invite only", this invitation is even more special because I didn't invite anyone else!)
Why don't they invite you?
Sounds rather snobby, but maybe they've had some abusive comments to their blog? Just guessing. I haven't seen any of those invite-only blogs.
M.
That does sound sucky. Maybe it was an accident. Didn't that happen to Angus Mohr once?
Maybe they have been getting negative comments so they shut every one out! It does suck, though.
You're invited to mine, too! inchesandfalling.blogspot.com as well as agirlacameraand3rivers.blogspot.com.
Didn't s/he give a warning to let people know the blog was going private?
I hate when that happens.
