Everyons probably has some kind of equipment of tool they enjoy beyond all others. Yours are bikes. And much are we love our own choices and yours are bikes, mine are garden tools. I don't mean the riding lawn mower, that's just functional.
What I mean is the solid steel spade I sharpen the edge of 2x a year so it cuts through small roots with ease and larger ones if I get mad about it. The stainless steel trowel. The old post-hole digger with the ash handles that refuse to break. The new razor-blade sharp level hoe what skims under root weeds like through water.
I'm glad you love your bikes. I even read about them with intellectual curiousity. I don't understand about them in the least degree but I appreciate your (dare I say "obsession") with them. I feel the same about my garden tools. "The Best" is only sufficient. A joy to use.
I feel the tools in my hand gardening. You feel the wind in your face powering a wonderfully-constructed moving machinery.
Question: I bought a bike 10 years ago and discovered that biking isn't my favorite thing (bad right knee). I want to sell it. It's a Schwinn Trail-Tuned 6061, Shimanu 7-speed.
It is just clutter here and I want someone to enjoy it. Any idea of a fair price? You are the only person I know who knows about bikes.
Your best bet in finding out the value is checking at bicyclebluebook.com ... but being a 7 speed Schwinn, it's probably not worth a lot. On the other hand, right now used bikes are selling super well, so you might be able to get a few extra bucks for it. I'm guessing based on age and brand it's worth around $75.
