1:30 in the morning, just as I was falling asleep, he wandered down the hall meowing his little head off. In the quiet of night, it was a huge sound, bold-type-faced MEOW MEOW MEOW.
I've learned that sometimes he's just looking for company, and if I call to him, he'll come into the room, get a few head skritches, and then he'll curl up and go to sleep.
Last night he turned around and walked the other way.
At 2:30... MEOW MEOW MEOW.
Big, bold, loud. But again, he didn't come when called, so I rolled over and tried to fall asleep. And I think I did, finally, but was pulled out of sleep at 3:30.
MEOW MEOW MEOW MEOW MEOW
By then I was less interested in making him happy than I was in getting some sleep. I sat up, seethed, "Max, just be QUIET, all right?!?"
He stepped into the doorway, stopped, and very quietly:
Meow Meow Meow?
I swear to God that cat laughed his way back down the hall.

Those last three quiet meows was him telling you to keep it down, people are trying to sleep.
And yes, he *was* laughing as he walked away.
Hmm... you know Ichiro was quiet last night--do you suppose he and Max have something going?
My kitty Ninja will do that! One night he was meowing in bold face....(cool term BTW) and I said, "Ninja! Good grief! Be quiet!" The next Meow was a loud, super, super bold size 75 script type meow. Crazy cat!
I am sure that Max has a sense of humor and that he was laughing all the way down the hall.
I am sure he was laughing all the way!
OMG! That's exactly what Sabi did all this morning! Maybe it's conspiracy - all the cats telepathically connected w/ each other to drive us crazy this morning!
I know it isn't a full moon, what gives?
I had to close my bedroom door at night, otherwise I'd be attacked all night long, every time I moved a muscle.
