I'm watching Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer for the first time in years, and wondering how the hell this became such a classic. Face it, Santa is a douchebag, the elves are total dicks, and the reindeer are freaking sexist. Sure, there's redemption in the end, but really...Santa is someone who should have never needed redemption.

It really is a major suckage as far as cartoons go.

Just sayin'...

When my kids were small I used to enjoy seeing all the old Christmas cartoons and movies with them, but now I couldn't care less about seeing them again, except for one. "Emmet Otter's Jugtown Christmas" was on HBO in the late 70's/early 80's and I absolutely loved that show. They don't show it anymore that I know of.

Agreed.
I also have issues with the "no respect for you until you save the world" message.

Shouldn't you be nice to someone just because they're a fellow creature on this earth... without them having to save it?

But Bumbles bounce!!! :)

haha, haven't watched it in years, but I'm sure I'll get sucked in next year when my son actually starts caring about tv ... he did sit through half of Julie & Julia with me last night though :)

With no kids in the house, I do not feel a need for the cartoon specials, except Charlie Brown!

Charlie Brown Christmas and the Boris Karloff version of the Grinch are the only ones I ever liked. Even as a kid.
Frosty the Snowman was total "ick" for me. It was a gentle cartoon but the characters annoyed me. - sss's mom

Isn't it amazing when you watch something that you remember with fondness from childhood and see it with adult eyes? These days I try not to spoil my warm memories by trying to revisit them. Except for Mary Poppins. That one never disappoints.

Christmas fovorites? A Christmas story. "You crazy, kid? You'll shoot your eye out!". Scrooged. "Bitch hit me with a toaster." and of course A Muppet Christmas Carol. You can't not love the Muppets.
As for ye olde timey Christmas shows? They blow reindeer dick.
