About a month ago, the Spouse Thingy and I were at the base bowling alley, thoroughly embarrassing ourselves with the quality our skills have devolved to...and since we suck so much, why not buy new bowling shoes in which to further suck!
They did not have the ones I wanted, but they were willing to order them. And while I was whining about the comfort level of the hospital bed my ass was stuck in, the shoes came in.
They are very spiffy.
We picked them up yesterday, and promptly shoved them into the locker with our balls, because I won't be able to bowl until Hot Doctor says I can. And I won't see her until next week, so who knows when I'll actually be able to sling a 16 pound ball down the lane?
I have very little pain already, it's well managed with just Motrin, but there are a few twingy spots that tell me there's no way I'm bowling even one frame much less 10. But dammit, I have spiffy shoes! I need to wear them!
Life really is not fair.

They are very spiffy, but you better wait until the hot doc says so. We don't want you back in that bed!
They are very spiffy! What does Max think?
I am glad that your gall bladder operation went so well and that you have very little pain. The spiffy bowling shoes will wait until Hot Doc gives you the OK. Don't rush things.
They are very spiffy. Glad you are not having a lot of pain.
Very spiffy shoes. Wear them anyway. :) Is that allowed with bowling shoes or are you supposed to only wear them at the lanes? Anyway, glad the pain is manageable. Can you do the - what is it called - duck pin bowling?? for now, you know the one with the smaller balls?
Nice shoes! Yeah, I guess bowling might stretch you in the wrong direction. Also, no baseball playing!
Glad you are continuing to recover and improve.
Oh man, the hospital bed I was in after Devon was horrible. I swear it tried to eat my ass off every 2-4 hours.
Very spiffy, indeed! So spiffy I'd like to get some for myself. Wait...I don't bowl. Well, they make me wish I did!
You could do Wii bowling at home just so you have the chance to wear them. No heavy bowling ball involved. :)
Very nice shoes. You should wear them for the heck of it around the house to break them in!
Glad the surgery went well though the timing (Vegas and all) sucked. My SO had her's taken out years ago and had some interesting side effects. Salads and broccoli process through her system in record time and burping with enthusiasm becomes much easier.
BTW. on a different note - you got kicked out of Jenny Craig they won't even let me join - walnut allergy...
Bocce ball--that's the ticket. :) Small ball & you can still wear the cool shoes.
16 pound ball ? I struggle with a 12 ! Although that's partly down to spindly arms and partly due to leftovers from a torn up shoulder :-)
Get better soon - hopefully you'll be trying out those bowling shoes properly before they get much dust on :-)
Very very spiffy. Don't take them home or you may find a hairball in them. Just sayin'.
Two points:
Wii bowling rocks ( as does the golf.)
Those shoes look cool enough to be worn as regular shoes.
Think rockabilly vibe.
I love your bowling shoes!!! Speaking of bowling, I should go bowling more often. The last time I bowled I did horribly and I've been bowling since I was in 5th grade (I'm 27).
I hope you feel better soon Thumper!
Them shoes need breaking in. You can hang out in the bowling alley without actually throwing a ball, you know. Mine are solid white and my ball is 12 lb, but my average doesn't justify all the snazzy equipment.
PS I once used my bowling ball and Scruffy-cat to estimate the weight of a thanksgiving turkey! It was between the 8 lb cat and 12 lb turkey, so I prepared it as 10 lb and it was purrfect. Scruffy LOVED the boiled giblets.
I'm jealous of your shoes!! Much spiffier than the blah ones I wear every week.
You'll be slinging a ball soon enough. :) Heck, I had to wait just about 2 weeks after back surgery before I went back to bowling. Granted, I had to go back w/a 12 lb. ball, but was back up to 16 lbs. in a few mos.
Glad you're feeling better! Get more cat therapy-- it has been proven to help. :)
