17 September 2009

On July 17, the Spouse Thingy and I decided enough was enough, we want to be thin and healthy and bendy again (especially bendy...very very bendy), and we joined Jenny Craig. The food was tasty, it did not inspire the vast amounts of fartitude that Nutrisystem did, and we've been quite happy with it. I've lost a smidge under 25 pounds, he's lost 20.

Today...today I got kicked out of the Jenny Craig program. See, that's how badass I am--I broke Jenny Craig.

Spouse Thingy gets to stay. They like him.

In reality, I have issues with soy, and the JC food has soy in just about everything. Small amounts, to be sure, but with me it's like it builds up, I get to feeling not so good, take a few days off, and then I'm fine. This worried our JC consultant, who called one of the JC nutritionists, who boomed with a mighty voice KICK HER OUT. KICK HER OUT NOWWWWW!

Soy sensitivities are a no-no, as they don't want it to become a full blow allergy.

Apparently, Jenny Craig does not want to kill me. I take this to be a good thing.

On the plus side, since the Spouse Thingy will continue, they'll weigh my sorry ass every week regardless, and will help me figure out my diet if I have problems...but they're refunding my membership fee.

Still..how many people get kicked out of Jenny Craig? Am I awesome, or what?

I did not get kicked out but they did not seem to have a problem with Milk products kicking up my asthma.

I personally love Weight Watchers. It's been the only program where I do *not* feel starved, deprived of "goodies", or blah being on it. I have lost 20lbs and I have eaten pizza, candy bars, ice cream, hot chocolate...just not all the time (or at once ;) It also solved the problem where my spouse needs to eat more than I do (it's a guy thing.)

The best thing about WW is that you don't have to buy any special foods. None. (Well, I think this is the best thing. ;)

That's my plug :) 'Cause I like your blog (and Max's and Buddah's too!)

I'm not a big fan of soy even if you aren't officially allergic to it. What few people know is that soy is not a health food. If you want to know how lucky you are to be slightly sensitive to soy you can read the Whole Story of Soy!

My BIL is in it now; he's lost 44 pounds so far and loves that program. Apparently, he has no soy issues.

Congratulations on losing almost 25 pounds! I'd never heard of getting kicked out of Jenny Craig. I didn't even know that their food had soy in it. I also didn't know that men tried the program, since they market it to women.

I like to prepare my own food, so I've done well with Weight Watchers. Only trouble is that I'd need to stay on it after losing the weight. Last time I did it was 5 years ago and I put all the weight back on.

Good luck and let us know how you're doing.

I'm with Angela and Marti... I'm in the cult of weight watchers. I joined the beginning of august because I realized I had almost 20lbs that had slowly crept on over the last 5 years.

I know 20 isn't a lot, but I figured "Well, where do I draw the line? 40? 50? 100?" and decided to do something about it.

That, and my clothes weren't fitting as well anymore. I LIKE my clothes, and didn't want to have to replace them.

I've lost 7 lbs since the beginning of august, almost 1/2 way to my goal.

The other thing I've been doing - Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. She seriously kicks your ass into shape. I haven't been doing it EVERY day considering I've been working every spare moment on the investment house we bought last month (And 2 hours of painting = 4 exercise points!), but its a great 25 minute workout.

I'm also part of the cult of Weight Watchers. I have lost almost 35 pounds and love it, because I love to cook and with a little pre-planning, I can cook anything I like. We have WW at Work so I must keep going or I have to pay back the money our company puts in. That's enough reason for me to stay on the program!

And YES, you are "teh awesome" for getting kicked out of JC!

You are the first person I have ever heard of to get kicked out. You are awesome! LOL

Congratulations on the weight loss! Mommy can't do soy either. Soy makes fibroids grow and since she has already had 19 removed she stays far away from soy.

Congrats on the 25 lbs lost! You are definitely awesome and not just because you got kicked out of Jenny Craig. Did you tell Max yet?

You'll do fine on your own and the Food Nazi is an email away. Seriously, she'll help if you need it, but if you even look at a Ding Dong she will reach out through the monitor and pull your hair (this is why my hair is thinning.) Or hot dogs. She threatened to shove one of those up my ass if I fed them to the kids again. She's mean.

At least Jenny had less of your @ss to kick out.

Congratulations on your weight loss! You go, girl!

It might take a couple of weeks but I'll throw together some recipes for you. You know what helped my dad when he was trying to drop 30? Tiny dinner plates. He ate whatever he wanted as long as it fit on one of those plates, and no seconds. I was dubious when he said that's what he was doing but it worked.

And if Ian keeps making stuff like hot dogs, he's going to need a little help, too. All this time he thought the hot bod was genetics, but he's learning ;)

Funny, a few months ago we bought new plates with the idea that smaller would be better. Got home..and they were the same freaking size as the old ones. They *looked* smaller...

If Kirstie Alley could get kicked out of Jenny Craig, so can you. ;D
