Ever have a stellar idea that makes you sit upright and say out loud, "I totally need to do that!" but then fifteen  minutes later you can't remember what the hell it was?

That was my weekend. It happened three or four times while I was working.

You'd think I would learn to take notes...

It usually happens to me in that moment right before sleep, but I don't write it down. Once, I actually got up and spent a good 30 minutes jotting down ideas for a kid's book before forcing myself to go to bed. I still have the notes somewhere, if only I could draw what I see in my mind.

I hate those days! If we could remember, we might not have to worry about retirement!

You know the sad part is if you take notes or record the idea somewhere it won't make any sense later either...

I do this so often I use the term "Goldfished that" to describe it.

Scary thing is, when I tell people I've Goldfished something, they know precisely what I mean.
