"Yanno," the text said, "this would be a lot easier if you would just TALK ON THE PHONE."

Well, it would certainly be easier for the other person. At least at first. But after a few "What was that?" and "I can't hear you, sorry," and "Huh? I didn't catch that," anyone would have to agree, talking to me on the phone is not All That.

Combine that with Writer's Brain (or: I really do need to stop to think and edit, then redraft, and think again before putting anything out there) and I'm all kinds of fun to talk to on the phone.

It's not personal, people.

It's simple.

I CAN'T HEAR YOU.

Plus, I'm kinda socially backwards. And phone phobic.

Trust me, texting is the miracle by which you want to communicate with me.

I have the same problem--you can get phones that have volume controls on them.

I prefer email. You can answer when you want to and take the time to really think about your answer. My cell phone has to be turned up as far as it will go.

It takes me about ten minutes to text 'yes' so phoning is quicker - I'm technologically inept you know...

I'm all about email. Hate phones--talking or texting. In fact, I don't even have texting on my phone!

I love texting, too. I keep in touch with the grand daughter that way. She laughs at me and my friend that is past 70 texting each other!

When the mother-in-law lived with us, she hated using the phone because she couldn't hear very well.
And then she would scold me over the people who called and weren't clear.

I finally told her to stop answering the phone. It was never for her anyway. And we had an answering machine.

Thump, my mom soooo savvy's that. Took her a squillion years to realize she's socially reticent by nature. Yay for email! And texting! And commenting! Not only that, but mom's eyes NO WORK and she's grateful for the ability to enlarge text.

Shoot. One of these days she's gonna come at me with the vacuum, thinkin' I'm a dust-bunny or somethin'.

I hate the phone too.

Trouble is, other people haven't figured out that yet. I mean, how long do you have to ignore answer phone messages before they get the message !
