The nice thing about living in a small town is that you can cover a lot of ground on foot, and for the most part you don't have to worry about the people you encounter. Ninety percent of the people I pass while I'm out walking are out doing the same thing: they're sweating their way from point A to point B.
Many of them are taking their dogs along, and I'm starting to notice the same paired people and dogs quite often.
Something else I'm noticing...Dixon smells a lot like dog poop.
I have to admit, I haven't witnessed someone out with their dog not cleaning up after it, but there are obviously a whole lot of pooches pooping randomly with no human scooping up behind them. There's a lot of poop on sidewalks, a lot just off sidewalks, and with summer settling in and the heat rising...it stinks.
I like the town, I love the (for the most part) nice wide sidewalks and the quiet and relative safety of this place, but damn...eau d'doggy droppings is not the aroma I would like wafting by me as I amble around town.
Really, people...how hard is it to scoop?

Really! Be considerate of others noses and shoes!
About as hard as it is for the majority to NOT throw their "Crap" {litter} out the car windows.
I shovel shit every day and don't even leave the house or own a dog. If I can do it, so can they. *snerk*
The neighbor boys once told me they don't "let" their dog poop during their walks.
Uh huh.
Then I witnessed them "not letting" their dog poop on the neighborlady's lawn... as they dragged the dog, still squatting, off her property... leaving a nice dotted poop line across her yard.
I chased them down with a plastic bag and made them clean it up. Explained that if anyone caught them leaving poo, the police would ticket their parents.
Magically, there weren't any dog piles in my lawn after that, either.
my street is next to a farm with over 300 sheep, 200 cows, plus goats, pigs and llamas. and chickens. Eau d'farm. MMMMMMMMM
I don't know why people don't clean up after their dogs. Surely they don't enjoy smelling the poop on their next walk, either.
I have to say I was disappointed to see at least two people out in our lovely town recently without their doggy bags or scoops....
Some areas of our 200yr old town are just so smelly I don't like to go there......
Such a shame.
Scoop the Poop, people!!
