So we moved in last January, but finally got around to making a space for the clock. We think that space was originally supposed to be for entertainment equipment; there was a shelf and there's an outlet in the back, all conveniently located over the media nook, which is apparently supposed to house a TV.
That media nook will become a kitty hangout... we just have to figure out an unobtrusive way to block the cable from Buddah's Jaws of Death.
Speaking of Buddah...he has a bed. He refuses to use that bed, but we did buy him one when he was a kitten.
Once in a while he sniffs at Max's bed like he wants to get it it, but doesn't because he's smart and fears for his life.
A few days ago a pillow wound up on the floor; it was destined for the trash bin, but when I found him curled up on it, sound asleep. And he used it the next day. And the day after that. So I think we're keeping the pillow, and I don't mind that it doesn't exactly go with anything in the family room.
It's not like we've finish putting the room together, anyway.
He's a good kitty. He deserves his pillow.
Oh...
you know how you get a tall clock to fit in a slightly not so tall space?
Poke a hole in the ceiling.
Hey, whatever works...

Congratulations on finding the perfect place for the clock. I am glad that Buddah finally has a bed of his own.
Thumper, you should submit the picture of that clock with the hole in the ceiling to thereifixedit.com.
Cover foam board with fabric (fleece perhaps) and make it an open-ended box. Slip it in with the open end in the front - thus covering the cords, and providing a cozy spot for Buddah Butt.
When I saw the first picture what a perfect spot for the clock. The last picture kind of shatters that, but it really is still perfect being in it's own nook. Your Father in Law made it, if I remember correctly.
Buddah must have given you a double take, curled up on the old pillow like that. Probably smells like his favorite people so it's a compliment that he has adopted it. sss's mom
Yep, my FIL made that clock, which makes it totally worth poking a hole in the ceiling for. We wanted it snugged away from kitty curiosity...that seemed to be the best spot, plus now it's where we can always see it.
That pillow..it used to be the base of Max's bed. Probably why Buddah wants it...
Kris, I love the foam board idea...that would totally work.
And I love the idea of submitting the clock fix to thereifixedit, too...I think I will :)
How perfect for the clock! It is up safe from teh kitties ans where you can see it every day.
Nice clock. Hey, whatever werks :)
Very few will notice that little hole at the top of the clock, the rest of it is what draws the attention.
