I dug the skates out of the garage last night--bought them 6 or 7 years ago and never use them--and decided to see if I could remain upright on them. I managed to skate up and down the hallway, but I can't stop worth a damn, and I'm not really sure how to turn...but hey, I didn't fall!
I feel like a giant...
Sometime soon the Spouse Thingy and I will both put our skates on and roll around the court out in front of the house, and if I don't die I may eventually wander off the court. We were going to do it this afternoon, but sudden rain saved me from surefire humiliation. Maybe next week.

You look like a thin giant. :)
You are looking very good! I know I could not stand up on those!
My two-year old son wears his skates around the house too :)
I've never tried the in-line skates. I remember growing up with the metal 4 wheeled ones that you clamped onto your shoe!
Don't run over the kitties!
I am impressed!! I wouldn't put the things on my feet!
Have fun. I used to skate on these back in early 1990s. Went out on my own and fell a lot and couldn't stop, so I took a class at skating rink in Central Park. Used to be fun skating around the 6 mile perimeter of the park, but later I decided it was dangerously crowded and I didn't want to break my wrist I wore the pads on wrist and knees, and a helmet.
Keep knees bent some to keep your balance.
You are looking powerful thin! Be sure to wear a helmet! (Yes, I sound like your mom. It's what I do.) ;-)

I would so fall down and break a great many bones if I tried that! Good luck.
never in a million years would I do that! Nay! A trillion!
You are -
A) brave
B) insane

I think I'm around your age & I wouldn't try those things for any amount of money--I *know* I'd just break my ass into pieces. Kudos on your bravery! (And are we missing our scooter wheels just a wee bit?)
Hi Thumper!
Wow, I'm impressed......I could never keep my balance on four square rollerskates, let alone the new inliner things.
Of course, you do realise we all want photos of the 'outing' :-)
And Buddah and Max's faces when you fall over ;-) I love seeing cats laugh....

You look fabulous!!
As for the skating, if nothing else, please wear a helmet.
if the break/rubber thingy is on the back of your right boot, I'd suggest keeping your weight on the left skate while lifting the front of your right foot to brake (you can apply more weight on that side later)... or vice versa... Running off onto grass is a fairly useful way to avoid tripping over dogs, small children, etc... The wheels don't spin in grass - it just feels like running in space boots... as I recall, anyway.
Not falling down is pretty impressive for a first try in years. It looks like the next best thing to the scooter. Good luck and have fun.
Hallway is good. Lots of walls to hang onto...
